If any OU students are reading this and affected by the OU's decision to ban Dragon in exams, please read this.
I would suggest very strongly taking the course of action outlined below.
You can only take individual action under the Disability Discrimination Act.
A student has spoken with the Equalities Commission office (0845 604 6610) and they do see it as discrimination.
They suggest anyone affected write to the O U telling them that they do not think the adjustments offered are reasonable, that they are taking further advice from the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, and request a reply within seven days.
It should be sent recorded delivery.
The letter does not have to go into any great detail, it is seen as a warning shot being fired across their bows and they cannot ignore it.
